Whippet Rescue Information: The Whippet is a small, elegant, Greyhound-like breed. Whippets are calm and affectionate. Whippets are excellent with respectful children and get along fine with dogs. A Whippet is not a good choice for a home with non-canine pets. Whippets need to be protected from extreme cold. With enough exercise, a Whippet does fine in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
Whippet Trivia: Whippets can sprint at speeds up to 37 miles per hour. A painting of a Whippet belonging to Louis XV by Jean Baptiste Oudry hangs in the Washington National Gallery. The Whippet was recognized by the English Kennel Club in 1890.
