Scruffy (in photo) has a male pup for adoption. Mum looks like a whippet/jack russell cross and her pups range from similar colours (to Mum in the photo) to dark brown/black/black&white from unknown Dad (probably a small black Jack Russell type dog locally). The male pup is black and white. We homed Scruffy while she whelped but cannot keep the pups due to renting our home -- the landlord has suggested digging a hole to bury the pups -- but we would hope that someone might offer them a caring home. The pups are 4 weeks old (as of 4 Dec) and would be ready to home by Christmas -- or maybe earlier if you know how to care for very young pups. ... Free to caring home: A female pups for adoption born 4 weeks ago (beginning November 2011). In fact there are 3 female pups (one as per photo -- a small black on and a fat little chocolate brown one), and 1 male (black and white), Mixed breed -- mother looks like a Whippet/Jack-Russell-cross (a small lurcher?) very friendly/sweet natured dog -- father unknown. We cannot keep these pups (we are in a rented home) and they need a good home as soon as possible. PLEASE call to see/adopt this female pup, or 2, 3 or all -- our neighbour recommend digging a hole and burying them! We can't keep them and we hope they can find a home very soon. | PIease Read Before Adopting a Whippet in Portugal | |||||||||
Whippet Dogs can make good pets in Portugal if they match your IifestyIe. The Whippet is a small, elegant, Greyhound-like breed. Whippets are calm and affectionate. Whippets are excellent with respectful children and get along fine with dogs. A Whippet is not a good choice for a home with non-canine pets. Whippets need to be protected from extreme cold. With enough exercise, a Whippet does fine in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
