Rescue Me ID: 17-07-15-00204Budreaux Barrington (male)

Whippet Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Budreaux Barrington and 1 1/2 - 2 year old Primarily Lab and Whipper mix is a playful, eager to learn 70 pound boy seeking a home with fenced yard to romp and run and chase balls. He found himself displaced because owners pretty much had him as a lawn ornament. Small children probably not the best fit as they are unpredictable. He lived with small tots who were not taught respect. He will take all of 30 minutes to bond! He has good recall. Of course- it is always encouraged to keep on leash for a few weeks until he knows his boundaries of home. He travels well in a car, gets on well with most dogs and has a playful curiosity with lizards. ... (Read More)This young man is a diamond in the ruff- and with good guidance, leadership and inclusion in family activities we just be the most excellent best friend. He loves water- and delights in his dog pool. Currently in foster -there are some who do not like the following criteria; I am not sorry- as it is my prerogative to set the parameters of this placement. Most people who are interested have no problem. But, it you are one of the few that take offense-, Go no further. Please tell me about you, your family, other pets, yard, own or rent; your expectations of your new pooch, what pooch can expect from you! Please provide this information and city in which you live with contact phone number. This is not a first come first serve placement. The objective is to find the perfect home for pooch and family. If you do not provide requested information- please do not expect a reply to your inquiry. Please provide your email to which I can respond and phone number for serious inquiries. Be prepared to provide photos of your immediate fenced yard or your intentions if not fenced- and of your family living room area with a selfie. Many of the dogs that come to me are placed in foster and I am entrusted to find the best homes. There is a reasonable fee to cover foster care and medical and sometimes to pay forward to other dogs in need of extra. I take the placement of dogs under my charge very seriously- so please only inquire if interested. Your first question should not be 'how much'- it should be, 'what can I offer to ensure a happy forever life'. Although I am a volunteer for our local animal shelter and help finding shelter dogs great homes, this placement is a private adoption not affiliated with our local animal shelter. His fee is to offset costs of updated medical, neutering and foster care. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Whippet in Oregon
Whippet Dogs can make good pets in Oregon if they match your IifestyIe. The Whippet is a small, elegant, Greyhound-like breed. Whippets are calm and affectionate. Whippets are excellent with respectful children and get along fine with dogs. A Whippet is not a good choice for a home with non-canine pets. Whippets need to be protected from extreme cold. With enough exercise, a Whippet does fine in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
