Whippet Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Shelly is a two year old lab-whippet mix, 40lbs, up to date on all shots, and healthy as can be. She has the sweetest personality; she does not like aggressive games and is happiest if she can sit right next to you and take a nap. Shelly loves to play with cats and children as well as adults, but needs a slow introduction to other dogs. Unfortunately, Shelly has separation anxiety and her current owners are working full-time. She has chewed through several cages, resulting in some loss of her bottom teeth, but she has no problem eating. Shelly's owners love her very much and would like her to live in a home with people who are around a lot ... (Read More)and have space for her to play outside. She needs to find a home AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. (Less)

Hi there!! My name is Alice! I am only 9 months old and I weigh about 45 lbs. I have been here at the shelter since July! My heart is aching and I am losing hope that there is a home out there waiting to welcome me to their family. I have watched so many of my friends find their new homes but I am still here waiting. I do have a lot of energy, but I truly am a great girl. I just need to be able to have a place to exercise. Once I get to play for just a little bit I am a really good girl! I got to go to an adoption event in September and I was an absolute delight! I was happy, quiet, had great manners and I was very easy to handle. My ... (Read More)tail wagged at every single person I seen while I was there, the same as it does at the pound. I get along great with the other dogs here at the pound! I get to go outside in the play yard with one of the large play groups (usually with 6-12 other dogs) to play. So I guess you're wondering what potential 'issues' I must have with having been here as long as I have... the truth is that I was VERY skinny when I came in to the pound, so understandably, I do guard my food from the other dogs. I haven't tried to bite people over my food. The solution for this is pretty simple. I just need fed separately. Also, if my new family has other dogs, it would be a great idea not to give me high priority items while I am with the other dogs 'just in case'. I am still VERY young and resource guarding is something that can be resolved with a savvy owner, so please don't pass me up just 'cause I don't want to share my food. It's comparable to a stranger on the street walking up and taking food off of your plate. Can you blame me? I promise I am a great girl and all I want is a chance! I'm so sad that all of my friends are getting adopted and I am stuck here day after day, week after week, month after month watching everyone BUT me get adopted! If you adopt me, I hereby promise to be the best dog I can possibly be, love you unconditionally and give you lots of kisses!! Xoxo, Alice aka Allie Cat! **Update** I have received a full $110 thanks so much to Rocky and Erin!! Please note that sponsorships are for approved rescues only and they do not apply to private adopters or unapproved rescue groups. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS DOG, AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER DOGS AT OUR SHELTER AS URGENT. OUR KENNEL SPACE HERE AT THE POUND IS VERY LIMITED. THIS DOG COULD BE EUTHANIZED WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE ANY TIME AFTER JULY 22, 2014. HERE AT THE COLUMBIANA COUNTY DOG POUND, WE TRY VERY HARD TO PLACE ALL OF OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS IN TO LOVING HOMES OR SEND THEM TO GREAT, APPROVED RESCUE GROUPS, HOWEVER, WE CAN ONLY KEEP OUR DOGS HERE AT THE POUND AS LONG AS SPACE ALLOWS.     Hi there. My name is Alice. I am about 7 months old and I weigh about 30 lbs. I was found as a stray in the East Liverpool area and was brought in to the pound. I am a super sweet and loving little gal. I am young and energetic and I would make a great playmate for another young, playful dog. I love people too. I do need some basic training still. I do jump up when I get excited but I do listen most of the time when I am told'off'. I am just a puppy who hasn't really been trained yet. When I get in to the right home where I can get the training I need and the love I deserve, I am going to be a wonderful dog. If you're looking for a sweet ... PIease Read Before Adopting a Whippet in Ohio
Whippet Dogs can make good pets in Ohio if they match your IifestyIe. The Whippet is a small, elegant, Greyhound-like breed. Whippets are calm and affectionate. Whippets are excellent with respectful children and get along fine with dogs. A Whippet is not a good choice for a home with non-canine pets. Whippets need to be protected from extreme cold. With enough exercise, a Whippet does fine in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
