Rescue Me ID: 15-08-07-00493Boo (female)

Whippet Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I am needing to re-hiome my dog, Boo. She is one of the best dogs I've ever owned. She is house trained and will let you know when she needs outside by going to the back door and waiting. She is an excellent hunter of squirrels, rabbits, gophers, lizards, etc. My 3 year old grandson is living with us and plays with Boo all the time. I also have 3 cats living with us and she pays no attention to them. If she does it's just to see if they want to play but backs off the second they tell her no. My grandson has a 1 year old small terrier puppy that loves Boo and totally looks up to her. They play all the time and she is very gentle with ... (Read More)the puppy. I am re-homing Boo because she has attacked my goats and sheep. I have horses as well which she has never even thought about attacking. If you livestock she is not the dog for you. If you don't have livestock, her aggression is not an issue. She has almost half an acre to run around on here so she will need a bigger backyard or at least lots of walks. She loves to go for car rides as I take her with most of the time in my truck. She goes hiking with me and along with me on trail rides with my horses. She loves the outdoors but needs to be near her family and prefers to be inside with her family whenever she's not protecting her property and family or hunting squirrels and rabbits. She is very loyal to her person and her family. She has very good manners and knows 'Sit,' 'Down,' 'Off,' and 'Go Lay Down.' 'No' is only a secondary reprimand; 'Aah!' is her primary reprimand letting her know 'That's not Ok.' She is VERY sweet and loving and needs a loving forever home. (Less)

Whippet Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Iggy is 1 year old and he weighs about 10 pounds. He's a fantastic mix - the long elegant legs and speed of an Italian Greyhound with an adorable Chihuahua underbite. He is very well-behaved inside his foster's home, and while doing doggie yoga. He's mostly mellow, but also will act like a puppy, de-stuffing his toys, going on fast walks, and racing around in silly puppy circles. He's super cute! Iggy would be so happy living with a dog buddy, someone to show him the ropes -- but he'd also be okay as an only pet with a kind patient person and regular dog play sessions, he loves doggie day care. He does have quite a bit of stage fright when ... (Read More)he meets new people (that's our fancy way of saying he's shy) but will follow another dog's lead and be giving you kisses once you've earned his trust. Iggy has FOUR videos! Playing with dog friend: Happy greeting: Fast walking: Playing in puppy playpen: To meet Iggy in the Los Angeles area, please fill out our application at You may call us to double-check that we received it at 310-837-MUTT or email - thank you! Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi! My name is Autumn and I'm 4 months old. My sister Summer and I somehow ended up in a pound out in San Bernardino - thank goodness rescue found us there and got us out of there safely! We are lovely girls who are quiet in our crate at night and go outside to potty if we can get outside. We're even learning to hold it until it's time to go out. That's how smart we are - we've learned that in just two days. We're as sweet as pie, love our toys and love to chew rawhides. Don't you think I'm beautiful - I'm all dressed up for a formal party in my tuxedo!

Animal ID: ToddA4825069 (male)

Whippet Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Vaccinations Current

Todd is a plucky, puppy like three year old white and tan male Jack Russell Terrier mix who was found in Baldwin Park on May 1st, and brought to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center. He has since been transferred to the Agoura Animal Care Center where he awaits a new loving forever home. Could it be yours? Weighing in at 14 pounds, Todd is a charming, eager boy who just seems happy as happy can be! Luckily, Todd somehow doesn't appear affected by shelter life. Instead, he is extremely outgoing and social, simply delighting in meeting and greeting with his fellow canines (especially other little ones). Those stunning, brown eyes seem to always ... (Read More)be saying, 'Let's play! Let's play!' This boy is definitely a puppy at heart. Todd shows signs of being housebroken; and although he is familiar with a leash, he could use some training to perfect his walking skills (as his eager spirit tends to want to lead). Todd is what we call a 'plug and play' pooch - simply plug him in, and he's ready to be your family's newest, truest-bluest buddy! After being seen by the shelter vet, it seems that Todd has a grade 3-4 out of 6 heart murmuer that will need to be further examined by an outside veterinarian. Usually, this condition is treated with inexpensive lifelong medication, but this may not even be necessary. With his too sweet face and flop style ears, Todd will be a perfect indoor pet for any active and loving family, preferably one with other canine siblings with whom he can romp and roll. For more information about Todd, please call the shelter at (818) 991-0071 and reference Animal ID# A4825069 or email:, or better yet, come on by the shelter for a meet and greet! He is located in Kennel # A040. To view his shelter profile, and to see if he is still available, copy and paste this URL into your web browser: . Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Attention! MAGGIE Here! I am a very cute, friendly and loving female, spayed and microchipped, about 1.5 years old Whippet/Dachshund mix looking for my forever home. My foster mom describes me as a precious, sweet, very loving, quiet, playful, smart dog with a great personality. I am good with dogs, adults and children, who should be school aged. I hope a loving adopter will see me here and offer my forever home to be loved and spoiled! I was rescued from the street where I lived with my mom, since then I am living in loving care of a foster home until I find my furever home. I am a special needs dog, I had injuries and a broken leg. My leg ... (Read More)healed after surgery and is fine but my vision is impaired, I have estimated 20% vision, I am not blind. My best fit would be a family without or grown up children, with a quiet not so busy lifestyle and a fenced yard to chill and play in. I hope a loving adopter will see me here and offer my forever home to be loved and spoiled! Yours with a happy tailwag! MAGGIE Terms for Adoption: The rescued dogs are located in loving foster homes in Southern California. To meet these dogs you can schedule an individual appointment or visit our adoption event. The dogs are evaluated at time of rescue for breed, age etc. at best guess. We always try to answer calls/emails in a timely manner. Please allow a time window of 48 hours to return/answer to your inquiry. We do NOT ship dogs. Out of state adopters can fly in to meet and adopt our dogs, when adopting the dog MUST fly IN CABIN home with you. HOME INSPECTIONS and an APPLICATION are required for all adoptions and must be arranged PRIOR to all meet and greets, if it is a match an ADOPTION CONTRACT must be signed. We appreciate your interest in our dogs, however, there are NO exceptions to the above. Our ultimate goal is to find a PERFECT MATCH for our dogs and you, so that your new family member will live out their life in a loving environment. (Less)

Whippet Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Luis was adopted out of Agoura Shelter a couple of months ago by a family. When the family's household proved to be too stressful for him he came to us rather than going back to a shelter. The previous owner is battling a serious illness and it was too much for her to handle along with a new dog. No fault of Luis. He was feeling the stress of the family dealing with the illness. He's with us and from day one he has been fabulous, easy going and a complete joy. Good with other dogs, cats and kids. We think he is about 2 years old and a Chihuahua/Whippet mix. He's very lean no matter how much we feed him! I wish I had that problem.

Kevin - About a year old at the most, just under 10 pounds, great with other dogs, cats and people (needs to be given a few minutes to warm up then it's a love fest!). He's house trained, walks great on leash and loves to dance for treats! He's so happy and charismatic! He was pulled from a local city shelter after the woman that surrendered him 3 days prior reached out to us to ask for help because she had him as a young puppy and then was not able to keep him for whatever reason. The strange thing is that he was extremely under weight and was in the medical room at the shelter. This could not have happened in that 3 days so don't ... (Read More)know the whole story.     Leon came to us with a leg that needed to be amputated. After a while, he showed us that despite his leg just sitting there on his body he still uses it for so many different reasons. He still uses it to scratch himself and if we his leg away what would he do? It doesnt bother him or stop him one bit. He is in no pain at all either. So we have all agreed that he doesnt need an amputation. He loves to play, especially with other dogs and he enjoys long walks. He is just a bit talk-a-tive and would probably need to live in a regular home rather than an apartment. Leon just needs a loving family who will accept him for who he is and not just ... PIease Read Before Adopting a Whippet in California
Whippet Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Whippet is a small, elegant, Greyhound-like breed. Whippets are calm and affectionate. Whippets are excellent with respectful children and get along fine with dogs. A Whippet is not a good choice for a home with non-canine pets. Whippets need to be protected from extreme cold. With enough exercise, a Whippet does fine in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
