Rescue Me ID: 15-08-19-00382Dolly (female)

Whippet Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Dolly is a 1 year old mix (we think Whippet/Shepherd) that was found as a stray with her puppies. Despite already being a mother, Dolly is still quite a puppy herself. She is very happy to meet new people, although the she can be a bit rambunctious, she loves nothing more than to cuddle up next to you. Dolly is currently being treated for ringworm as well as mastitis; once those are healed she will be spayed and available for adoption! She is extremely gentle and loving with children and very tolerant. I don't believe she will do well with cats because she does have a high prey drive, but she does do well with other dogs.

Rescue Me ID: 15-08-14-00357Jakoby (male)

Whippet Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Fearful/Anxious

Jakoby (Koby) is a 5 year old miniature poodle/whippet/jack russell terrier mix, according the shelter I got him at when he was 3 months old. He is a very sweet dog who loves people. I put that he was not good with kids because he is untrained and likes to stand on his hind legs and jump on people when he's excited to see them. He doesn't bark very often and is not a biter. He's potty trained and will only ever have accidents if he's not let out for a very long time. Koby does have some anxiety issues. We think this is because the shelter we got him from rescued him from an animal hoarder home. He gets very scared at loud or high pitched ... (Read More)electronic noises and/or storms. He will pace a lot and try to get into small spaces but he never becomes violent, he just shakes a lot and does not like to stay still during those times. Being untrained, he's also somewhat of a flight risk. He needs an enclosed yard, otherwise his curiosity will cause him to meander away. Definitely could use someone who has the time to make sure he's properly trained. If he gets trained he'd probably be the perfect dog. He's a loved dog, but I am no longer able to keep him. I live with my mother and grandmother but am moving within the next couple weeks and unfortunately there is no way for me to take him. My mom works long hours which would leave my grandmother alone with him a lot. Being an excitable and anxious dog that is in need of training we were not able to provide, there is a risk of him accidentally causing my grandmother to fall, and with her health issues, she may not recover from an injury like that. So even though I would love to keep him, that's not a possibility. Jakoby is extremely loving. He has the softest, curliest coat and literally the best wet doggie nose I've ever encountered. He's not much of a licker but he loves to sniff people's faces. I love him very much and want him to find a really great home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-07-28-00550Tawny (female)

Whippet Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Tawny came to us from a kind man that found her on July 4th. Posters were put up, facebook posts were made, but with no collar and no chip, no owners were found for her. As much as he wanted to keep her, his lease prevented that from happening. When he reached out and we met her, we instantly fell in love. She is about 1-2 years old and weighs 25 pounds, and is full grown. She loves nothing more than to be with her people. She is a literal lap dog. She gets along well with other dogs. She is potty trained. She loves to go out for her walks and has good leash manners. She is extremely playful. She has a good amount of energy, and would be ... (Read More)perfect for an active person who loves to be on the move. With her size you will be able to take her anywhere you want to go! We really are guessing on breed for her, we looked at pictures of whippet/lab and we saw a lot of similarities. In our rescue, we just ask that you love the dog for who it is. If you are interested in our little love bug Tawny, let us know!! As part of your adoption package, each dog will be fully vaccinated (Da2PP, Rabies), have a microchip (with lifetime registration!), and be spayed/neutered. If the dog is not spay/neutered at time of adoption, you will be required to transport the dog to and from the dropoff point on the day of surgery. You will receive 6 mths of heartworm preventative medication. You will receive a free bag of premium dog food, and if you live in the designated zip codes, you will also receive a $25 gift card from Choice Pet Market. Our dogs come with free training classes that are mandatory to attend. We strive to give you a well rounded foundation for you to build upon with your new dog. We consider the whole dog, from nutrition, to vet care to training. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-06-25-00182Pete (male)

Whippet Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I'm Pete. My foster parents call me Sneaky Pete because when they aren't looking I like to get up on the couches and lay down. I also like to hide things in the couch cushions, things like shoes, dirty t-shirts and my favorite is mom's glasses. She has caught on to my antics though when her glasses are missing she knows just where to look. Now don't get me wrong I don't destroy anything I just like a good game of hide and seek once in a while. I am very well mannered, housebroken, and friendly with humans and animals including cats. I know some basic commands like sit, shake, stay and down. I am really smart and could probably learn some ... (Read More)tricks if my new family wanted to teach me some. I love to play, I like to fetch my toys when my foster dad throws them for me and I almost always bring them back. I would love to have a family of my own that would play with me and that I could cuddle with. Over all I am AWESOME, and handsome too. If you would be interested in a great boy like me let the people at Dane Haven, Inc. know. Available in Arizona (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Whippet in Arizona
Whippet Dogs can make good pets in Arizona if they match your IifestyIe. The Whippet is a small, elegant, Greyhound-like breed. Whippets are calm and affectionate. Whippets are excellent with respectful children and get along fine with dogs. A Whippet is not a good choice for a home with non-canine pets. Whippets need to be protected from extreme cold. With enough exercise, a Whippet does fine in an apartment or a home with a small yard.
